JOSH GOOT

Josh Goot is an Australian designer, born in 1980. Living and working in Sydney, Josh Goot has been described as ‘modernism’s new messiah’ (Jamie Huckbody, Harper Bazaar) and ‘the king of urban chic’ (Stephen Todd, The Australian) for his ‘fast paced urban sportswear.’ (Mark Holgate, Vogue). In April 2005, Josh showed his first collection at Australian Fashion Week. The launch collection explored the idea of tailored comfort. The collection was created in 100% cotton jersey. It introduced a cool, modern attitude, ease and simplicity as brand values. In the same year, Josh’s debut collection won him the Tiffany & Co. Young Designer of the Year Award. Judges were impressed by the concept, aesthetic and future smart ideology of the collection.

International interest followed. In July 2005, the label featured on the cover of

international fashion bible Womens Wear Daily. In September 2006 Josh Goot made his first appearance at New York Fashion Week. ‘Things are cleaning up, things are toning down, minimalism is back upon us and I think Josh is setting the pace.’ (Roopal Patel, The Sydney Morning Herald). After showing in New York, Josh Goot moved to London in September 2008. The collection was acclaimed for it’s graphic prints, clean lines and colour blocking. In 2009, Josh was awarded the Marie Claire Best Designer Award, Australia and was nominated as a finalist in the International Mango Fashion Award, Barcelona. The collection is carried by some of the worlds leading boutiques including Browns Focus and Liberty in London, Maria Luisa and Le Bon Marche in Paris.
