Cyberia opened in October 1999.
The brainchild of siblings Karma and Daniel Bottari, it was the first store of its kind.
It all began in the basement of 285 little Collins St where the shop fit out was just as much a stand out as the clothes on display. "We searched the globe for something different, something which Melbourne had never seen before."
We were importing labels from Italy & France as well as the U.S. I guess the difficult thing was finding clothes that weren't too "out there" for the Australian customer, the right price and also not getting too far ahead of Aussie fashion trends.
We have made it and here we are 10 years on still with the same issues but with a few more notches on our belt.
The first year was memorable.
Daniel used to stand at the entrance of the lane, which led to the store, and hand out flyers to get the customers in. We battled but we were gaining good press and there was talk around town.
We were the new kids on the block, importers of high end fashion bringing something new to Melbourne whilst mixing international and local fashion.
The family has around 35 years retail experience with parents Sam & Malva opening their first international store Benassi Shoes in the Toorak Village. The store was an icon and was one of the first stores to import ladies high end footware. Then there was Della Spiga, 18 years on its still holds the stigma of being one of Australia's best boutiques.
We now travel up to 4 times a year sourcing the globe for new hot labels. Its always great to find a label thats a winner. Good price point, great designs and one that sells.
The beauty of Cyberia is that we have a personalized sales system. Current season stock is sold on the shop floor whilst next seasons garments are stored in the showroom above. Our staff will be more than happy to give you a private viewing of what's coming through in the next season.
We hope you enjoy shopping on line with us.
